Dreambox in 2026: IPTV on your Dreambox and what to buy now

Dreamboxes are no longer made: Dream Property GmbH, the maker, has been in liquidation since December 2023. If you already have one, you can still watch IPTV on it perfectly well via Enigma2.

Discontinued: the maker is in liquidation

Dream Property GmbH, the maker of the Dreambox, has been listed as in liquidation in the German commercial register since 13 December 2023; a second liquidation notice followed on 13 July 2026. There will be no new hardware and no more official firmware. See the alternative: Octagon SF8008

Our verdict

Dreambox: mediocre

You can't buy a Dreambox new any more: maker Dream Property is in liquidation and there is no more official firmware. If you already have a One or Two, you can simply use IPTV bouquets alongside your satellite channels with a community image such as openATV. If you're looking for a new receiver, choose the Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme, or an Android box if you don't use a dish.

Score by category

How the Dreambox scores on the five points we rate every box on. How we rate.

  • IPTV suitability6.0/10

With a community image such as openATV you add IPTV as bouquets in the channel list, but without official support.

  • Picture and sound7.0/10

4K with HDR10 and HLG; Dolby Vision isn't in the specifications.

  • Speed6.0/10

The six-core S922X with 2 GB of RAM is fast on paper, but how smoothly it runs now depends on the community image you use.

  • Value for money4.0/10

Only leftover stock or second-hand, with no warranty or manufacturer support, while a new Octagon SF8008 has an RRP of €149.90.

  • Ease of use5.0/10

If you want updates, you put a community image on the box yourself and set up the IPTV bouquets yourself.

Pros

  • Powerful six-core S922X with 2 GB of RAM, faster on paper than many new Enigma2 receivers
  • Real satellite or cable tuners, with IPTV as a bouquet in the same channel list
  • openATV images are still built daily for the One and the Two
  • 4K with HDR10 and HLG
  • Two: gigabit, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, colour display and quiet thanks to passive cooling

Cons

  • Maker in liquidation: no new hardware, official firmware, warranty or support
  • Only on sale as leftover stock or second-hand
  • IPTV needs a community image and setting up bouquets yourself
  • No IPTV apps such as TiviMate or MyTVOnline in Enigma2

Dreambox is still a much-searched name when it comes to Enigma2 receivers. The last models are the 2019 One Ultra HD and the Two Ultra HD, both with a six-core Amlogic S922X. There are no more official updates, but the community still builds openATV images for both models every day.

On this page you'll read what the liquidation means, what the One and the Two can do, how to set up IPTV on them, what to look for with a second-hand Dreambox and what you're better off buying new.

What happened to Dreambox?

The Dreambox was made by Dream Property GmbH, formerly Dream Multimedia, from Lünen in Germany. According to the commercial register (via North Data), the company has been in liquidation since an entry of 13 December 2023, in which a liquidator was appointed. A second liquidation notice followed on 13 July 2026.

For you as a buyer that means: no new Dreamboxes, no more firmware announcements on dreambox.de after the post about the Two, and no warranty or support from the manufacturer. What you still find is leftover stock at a few shops and second-hand units.

The community does keep the boxes alive. openATV builds images every day (version 8.0.1) for the One (dreamone), the Two (dreamtwo) and the older 4K models DM900 and DM920 (as of 12 October 2026). Other community images, such as Merlin, are no longer updated.

Dreambox One or Two Ultra HD: the specifications

The Dreambox One Ultra HD was announced on 21 May 2019. It has an Amlogic S922X with six cores (four Cortex-A73 and two Cortex-A53, 53,000 DMIPS together), 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash. It boots Dream's own Enigma version (OE 2.6) or Android 9 (dual boot) and plays 4K with HDR10 and HLG. There was a version with two DVB-S2X multistream tuners (RRP €259) and a version for DVB-T2/C (€269).

The Two Ultra HD has the same chip, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash, but two built-in tuners, a colour display, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, an SD card reader and passive cooling without a fan. It is the last model on dreambox.de.

On paper the One and the Two are faster than many new Enigma2 receivers: the Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme manages 15,000 DMIPS against 53,000 for the S922X. The difference is that with the Octagon you still get warranty and updates from the manufacturer.

How to still watch IPTV on your Dreambox

In Enigma2, IPTV channels go in the same channel list as your satellite or cable channels, as bouquets (channel groups). The e2m3u2bouquet script converts an M3U list into bouquets and sets up the XMLTV TV guide for the EPG-Importer plugin. If you have an Xtream Codes account, the XStreamity plugin plays that list directly, without bouquets.

Because Dream no longer releases firmware, you're best off with a maintained community image. openATV is still built daily for the One and the Two. First back up your settings and channel lists: installing an image is at your own risk, because there is no longer any manufacturer support.

Your satellite reception keeps working as normal; IPTV is added on top. That gives you one channel list, one TV guide and one remote for both.

Buy second-hand or something else?

A second-hand Dreambox is only interesting if it is cheap and you know Enigma2. You get no warranty or repair from the manufacturer and depend on the community for updates. Check which model it is and which tuner is in it (the One came with satellite tuners or with DVB-T2/C), whether the remote and power supply are included, and whether a recent image is installed. Don't pay too much for it: new, the One cost €259 to €269.

If you want to keep watching satellite or cable with Enigma2, the Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme is the current alternative. You buy it new, as a Twin with two DVB-S2X tuners or as a Combo with satellite plus cable/DVB-T2, with an M.2 slot for recordings and daily openATV images, for an RRP of €149.90.

If you don't need a dish or cable connection and only watch IPTV, an Android or IPTV box is much easier. A Formuler Z12 Ultra with MyTVOnline or a Google TV box with an app such as TiviMate works without bouquets or plugins.

Watching IPTV

IPTV on the Dreambox

On a Dreambox you watch IPTV in Enigma2 itself, not in an app such as TiviMate or MyTVOnline. You convert an M3U list into bouquets (channel groups), for example with e2m3u2bouquet, or you play an Xtream Codes account with the XStreamity plugin; the IPTV channels then sit alongside your satellite channels. Because Dream no longer releases firmware, the best way to do this is with a maintained community image such as openATV.

How to set up IPTV on the Dreambox (e2m3u2bouquet)

  1. Find out which model you have (One Ultra HD, Two Ultra HD or an older DM900 or DM920) and connect the box to your router with a network cable. Back up your settings and channel lists.
  2. At images.mynonpublic.com/openatv, download the openATV image for your model (dreamone, dreamtwo, dm900 or dm920) and install it following the openATV instructions. You do this at your own risk: the manufacturer no longer offers support.
  3. Go through the setup wizard, scan for your satellite or cable channels again and install the EPG-Importer from the plugin menu.
  4. Install e2m3u2bouquet following the instructions on the project's GitHub page.
  5. Have an Xtream Codes account and don't want to manage bouquets? Then you can use the XStreamity plugin instead, which plays your Xtream list directly.
  6. In e2m3u2bouquet, enter the M3U link of your subscription and the XMLTV link for the TV guide, and let the plugin create the bouquets. The IPTV channels then appear alongside your satellite channels, with a TV guide via the EPG-Importer.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Dreambox

Is the Dreambox still made?

No. Dream Property GmbH (formerly Dream Multimedia, from Lünen) has been listed as in liquidation in the commercial register since 13 December 2023, and a second liquidation notice followed on 13 July 2026. There will be no new Dreamboxes or official firmware. What you still find is leftover stock or second-hand.

Can I watch IPTV on my Dreambox?

Yes, via Enigma2. With e2m3u2bouquet you convert an M3U list into bouquets alongside your satellite channels, with a TV guide via the EPG-Importer. You play an Xtream Codes account with the XStreamity plugin. Because Dream no longer releases updates, you're best off using a maintained community image such as openATV for this.

Does my Dreambox still get updates?

Not from the manufacturer: no more firmware announcements appear on dreambox.de. The community does still build openATV 8.0.1 images every day for the One (dreamone), the Two (dreamtwo) and the older DM900 and DM920 (checked on 12 October 2026). Other community images, such as Merlin, are no longer updated.

Is a second-hand Dreambox still a good buy?

Only if it is cheap and you know Enigma2. You get no warranty or support from the manufacturer and depend on the community for updates. Check which model and which tuner is in it and whether the remote and power supply are included. A new Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme has an RRP of €149.90.

What is the best replacement for a Dreambox?

If you want to keep watching satellite or cable with Enigma2, the Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme is the current alternative: two DVB-S2X tuners (or satellite plus cable/DVB-T2), an M.2 slot for recordings and daily openATV images. If you only watch IPTV now, an Android or IPTV box is easier, such as the Formuler Z12 Ultra with MyTVOnline.
