Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme Review 2026: satellite and IPTV in one box

The Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme is an Enigma2 receiver for satellite or cable that simply puts IPTV channels in the same channel list.

Watch for ‘V3’ in the product name

Older SF8008 versions are also around, such as a single-tuner version and an earlier ‘Supreme Combo’. Only the V3 has Bluetooth.

Our verdict

Octagon SF8008: good

The Octagon SF8008 V3 Supreme is the logical choice if you watch satellite or cable and want IPTV as well: everything is in one Enigma2 channel list with one TV guide, and you record to an internal SSD. The chip and 1 GB of RAM are modest and setting up IPTV takes some puzzling. For Dreambox owners it is a current receiver with the same Enigma2 basis.

Score by category

How the Octagon SF8008 scores on the five points we rate every box on. How we rate.

  • IPTV suitability7.0/10

IPTV works via bouquets or the XStreamity plugin and sits alongside your satellite channels in one TV guide, but without the easy IPTV apps of Android.

  • Picture and sound7.0/10

4K with HDR10 and HLG via HDMI 2.0a; Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are missing.

  • Speed7.0/10

Quick enough for channel surfing, TV guide and recording, but 1 GB of RAM and 15,000 DMIPS hold back heavy skins and plugins.

  • Value for money7.5/10

Two tuners, an M.2 slot and gigabit for an RRP of €149.90 is reasonable for a 4K Enigma2 receiver.

  • Ease of use5.5/10

Setting up bouquets, EPG-Importer and plugins is technical; set against that are up-to-date openATV images and a learning remote.

Pros

  • Real DVB-S2X satellite tuners (Twin) or satellite plus cable/DVB-T2 (Combo), with IPTV in the same channel list
  • Internal M.2 slot for an NVMe SSD up to 4 TB, for quiet recordings and timeshift
  • Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1
  • Active community: daily openATV images for the sf8008, plus Octagon's own Define OS
  • Reasonable RRP of €149.90 without SSD

Cons

  • Only 1 GB of RAM and a slow chip compared with Android boxes
  • No Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos, only HDR10 and HLG
  • No CI/CI+ slot and no FBC tuners
  • Setting up IPTV with bouquets and plugins is technical; no Netflix or other streaming apps

It comes as a Twin with two DVB-S2X satellite tuners and as a Combo with a satellite and a cable/DVB-T2 tuner, both with an RRP of €149.90 without an SSD. The V3 adds Bluetooth, and via the M.2 slot you record to an internal SSD of up to 4 TB. Because Dreambox maker Dream Property is in liquidation, the SF8008 is the current alternative for many Enigma2 users.

In this review you'll read what the difference is between Twin and Combo, how IPTV works on Enigma2 with bouquets and plugins, and how to set up the receiver.

Twin or Combo: which SF8008 V3 Supreme should you choose?

The SF8008 V3 Supreme comes in two versions with the same hardware and the same RRP of €149.90 without an SSD. The Twin has two DVB-S2X satellite tuners, so you can record one satellite channel while watching another. It supports multistream and T2-MI, hardware blind scan, DiSEqC 1.2, USALS and Unicable. The Combo combines one DVB-S2X tuner with a tuner for cable (DVB-C) or aerial (DVB-T2).

Both versions are also on sale with a factory-fitted M.2 SSD from 250 GB to 4 TB, for an RRP of €179.90 to €379.90. You can also fit an NVMe SSD in the M.2 slot yourself or record to a drive on the USB 3.0 port. There is a smartcard reader, but no CI or CI+ slot and no FBC tuner. If you need a CI+ module, this receiver is out.

Mind the version. The V3 has Bluetooth 5.1, the older SF8008s don't. Older versions are still around, such as a single-tuner version and an earlier ‘Supreme Combo’. Octagon actively promotes the V3 as the new generation.

IPTV via Enigma2: bouquets, plugins and satellite in one list

Enigma2 is a Linux system for satellite receivers. IPTV goes in the same channel list as your satellite channels: an M3U list is converted into one or more bouquets, Enigma2's channel groups. The e2m3u2bouquet script reads the M3U list, creates the bouquets and sets up the XMLTV TV guide for the EPG-Importer plugin. Some providers also supply ready-made Enigma2 bouquets, and with E-Channelizer you edit channel lists on your PC.

For an Xtream Codes account there is the XStreamity plugin, which plays the Xtream list directly without you having to edit bouquets. The big advantage of this approach is hybrid use: you watch Astra via the dish, record to the SSD, use timeshift and picture-in-picture, and have IPTV channels in the same channel list and TV guide, with one remote.

The drawback is that it takes more puzzling than an IPTV app on Android. Apps such as TiviMate, IPTV Smarters and MyTVOnline don't run, and neither do Netflix or Disney+. If you only want IPTV, a Formuler or Google TV box is easier.

The current alternative for Dreambox owners

Dream Property, the maker of the Dreambox, has been in liquidation since December 2023. So there won't be new Dreamboxes, and it is also unclear whether VU+'s manufacturer is still active. The SF8008 V3 Supreme is an Enigma2 receiver that you buy new, with a warranty, and on which the same approach with bouquets, plugins and openATV works.

There is no shortage of updates: Octagon offers over-the-internet (OTA) updates for Define OS and E2, and the community builds new openATV 8.0.1 images for the ‘sf8008’ every day (checked on 12 October 2026). On paper the chip is slower than that of the Dreambox One and Two, though: 15,000 against 53,000 DMIPS.

Speed, picture and connections

The HiSilicon Hi3798MV200 has four cores at 1.6 GHz (15,000 DMIPS), with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of eMMC. For channel surfing, the TV guide and recording that is enough, but heavy skins and lots of plugins run noticeably slower than apps on an Android box.

Picture goes out in 4K via HDMI 2.0a with CEC, with HDR10 and HLG; Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are missing. For sound there are an optical output and an analogue AV output. It also has gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi up to 1,200 Mbit/s with two antennas, Bluetooth 5.1, a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 port, a microSD slot and a display with a clock.

The remote works with infrared, has 47 buttons and can also control your TV; there is no voice control.

Watching IPTV

IPTV on the Octagon SF8008

No Android apps run on the SF8008: TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, MyTVOnline and Kodi don't work, and Octagon's own Define OS is Linux too. You watch IPTV in Enigma2 itself: you convert an M3U list into bouquets (channel groups), for example with e2m3u2bouquet, or you play an Xtream Codes account with the XStreamity plugin. The IPTV channels then sit alongside your satellite channels in the same list and TV guide.

How to set up IPTV on the Octagon SF8008 (e2m3u2bouquet)

  1. Connect the receiver to your TV via HDMI, to your dish or cable and to your router with a network cable. At start-up, choose E2 Linux (Enigma2), not Define OS.
  2. Want the community firmware? Then install the latest openATV image for the ‘sf8008’ (images.mynonpublic.com/openatv). Back up your settings first.
  3. Go through the setup wizard and scan for your satellite channels (or cable and DVB-T2 channels on the Combo). Then install the EPG-Importer from the plugin menu.
  4. Install e2m3u2bouquet following the instructions on the project's GitHub page.
  5. Have an Xtream Codes account and don't want to manage bouquets? Then you can use the XStreamity plugin instead; it plays your Xtream list directly.
  6. In e2m3u2bouquet, enter the M3U link of your subscription and the XMLTV link for the TV guide, and let the plugin create the bouquets. The IPTV channels then sit in your channel list alongside your satellite channels, with a TV guide via the EPG-Importer.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Octagon SF8008

Can I watch IPTV on an Enigma2 receiver such as the Octagon SF8008?

Yes. You convert an M3U list into Enigma2 bouquets, for example with e2m3u2bouquet, which also sets up the XMLTV TV guide for the EPG-Importer. You play an Xtream Codes account with the XStreamity plugin. The IPTV channels then sit alongside your satellite channels in the same list and TV guide. Android apps such as TiviMate and Netflix don't run on it.

Twin or Combo: which SF8008 V3 Supreme should I choose?

The Twin has two DVB-S2X satellite tuners, so you can record one satellite channel while watching another. The Combo combines one DVB-S2X tuner with a DVB-C/T2 tuner for cable or aerial. Otherwise they are the same: the same RRP of €149.90, the same hardware, the same M.2 slot and the same dual boot.

What is the difference between the SF8008 V3 Supreme and older SF8008s?

The V3 has Bluetooth 5.1, the older versions don't. Older SF8008 versions are also still around, such as a single-tuner version and an earlier ‘Supreme Combo’. So look for ‘V3’ in the product name if you want the latest version.

Does the Octagon SF8008 still get updates?

Yes. Octagon offers over-the-internet updates for Define OS and E2, and the community openATV 8.0.1 image for the ‘sf8008’ was still being built daily on 12 October 2026. Octagon itself actively promotes the V3 ‘Supreme’ as the new generation.

Is the Octagon SF8008 a good replacement for a Dreambox?

For most Dreambox owners, yes. The maker of the Dreambox has been in liquidation since December 2023, so there won't be new Dreamboxes. The SF8008 V3 Supreme also runs Enigma2, has DVB-S2X tuners and gets new openATV images every day. On paper the chip is slower than that of the Dreambox One and Two (15,000 against 53,000 DMIPS).
