How to Set Up IPTV on a Formuler Box with MyTVOnline (2026 Guide)
Formuler boxes come with MyTVOnline, one of the most complete IPTV apps around. This guide shows how to add your subscription via Xtream Codes, M3U or a portal, set up the TV guide and get the most out of your box.

Formuler makes Android-based boxes built specifically for IPTV, and many enthusiasts consider them among the best devices you can buy for it. The big reason is MyTVOnline, the IPTV app that comes preinstalled. It looks like a traditional set-top box, handles large channel lists smoothly and offers features such as catch-up, recording and a detailed TV guide.
The downside is that MyTVOnline has a lot of menus, and a first-time setup can feel confusing. This guide takes you through it step by step, from connecting your box to adding your subscription and tidying up the channel list.

What you need
- A Formuler box (for example from the Z series) with MyTVOnline installed. Recent models ship with it preinstalled.
- Your IPTV details. Ideally Xtream Codes (server URL, username and password). An M3U link or a portal URL also works. With Genova TV you receive your details on WhatsApp after your order or free test.
- A network cable, if possible. Formuler boxes have an Ethernet port, and using it gives the most stable picture.
Step 1: Connect and update the box
- Connect the box to your TV with HDMI and to your router with a network cable (or Wi-Fi).
- Switch it on and follow the first-time setup: language, network and time zone.
- Check for updates in the box's settings. Update both the system and MyTVOnline to the latest version before you add your subscription. This prevents many problems later.
Step 2: Open MyTVOnline and add your subscription
Open MyTVOnline from the home screen. On first launch it asks you to add a service. There are three ways.
Option A: Xtream Codes (recommended)
- Choose Add portal or Add service, then select Xtream Codes (sometimes shown as XC).
- Give it a name, for example Genova TV.
- Enter the server URL, including `http://` and the port number if there is one (for example `:8080`).
- Enter your username and password.
- Save. MyTVOnline loads the channel list, the TV guide and, if included, films and series.
Option B: M3U playlist
- Choose Add service and select M3U or Playlist.
- Enter a name and the full M3U URL.
- Add the EPG URL from your provider separately if the guide doesn't appear by itself.
Option C: Portal (MAC-based)
Some providers offer a portal URL that works with the box's MAC address. In that case, enter the portal URL under Add portal, and your provider activates your box's MAC address. Most people will use Xtream Codes instead.
Step 3: Set up the TV guide (EPG)
- With Xtream Codes or a portal, the guide normally loads automatically.
- With M3U, add the EPG URL in the service settings.
- Open the guide from the channel list to see the grid view. The first download can take a few minutes with thousands of channels.
- If the guide is an hour off, check the time zone in the box's system settings and the EPG time offset in MyTVOnline.

Step 4: Tidy up your channel list
A large subscription can contain tens of thousands of channels. A few minutes of tidying makes daily use much nicer:
- Hide groups you never watch, such as countries or languages you don't need.
- Create favourite groups, for example Sport, News and Kids, and add your channels to them.
- Reorder channels so your most-watched ones get low numbers.
- Parental lock: protect adult categories with a PIN.
Step 5: Useful features to try
- Catch-up: on channels that support it, you can go back in the TV guide and watch programmes that already aired.
- Recording: connect a USB stick or drive and record programmes, if your model and subscription support it.
- Multi-screen: some models let you watch several channels at once, ideal for match days.
- Timeshift: pause live TV and continue later.
Common problems and quick fixes
- "Login failed" or no channels: check username, password and server URL, including the port. Make sure your subscription is active.
- Empty TV guide: wait a few minutes and refresh the EPG. With M3U, add the EPG URL.
- Buffering: use a network cable, restart your router and check that nothing else on the network is using a lot of bandwidth.
- App feels slow: hide unused groups and clear the cache in the app settings.
- Something broke after an update: restart the box completely. If it persists, re-add the service.
Frequently asked questions
Is MyTVOnline free on Formuler?
MyTVOnline comes with Formuler boxes. It contains no channels itself: you need a subscription from an IPTV provider.
Xtream Codes, M3U or portal: which should I use?
Xtream Codes is usually the easiest and most complete choice. It loads live TV, the guide and on-demand content automatically. Use M3U if that's what your provider gives you, and a portal only if your provider specifically works that way.
Can I install other IPTV apps on a Formuler?
Yes. Formuler boxes run Android, so you can also install apps such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters. Many users stay with MyTVOnline because it's built for the hardware.
Is Formuler legal?
Yes. Formuler boxes and MyTVOnline are legal devices and software. Whether what you watch is legal depends on your subscription provider.
