The Homatics Box 4K V2 is a certified Google TV box with gigabit Ethernet and a fast 6 nm chip. Retailers sell it as the replacement for the popular Homatics Box R 4K Plus.

Looking for the Homatics Box R 4K Plus?

Our verdict

Homatics Box 4K V2: very good

The Homatics Box 4K V2 combines IPTV and streaming well: gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Netflix in 4K and, according to Homatics, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. It replaces the Box R 4K Plus with a faster chip, but with half the RAM. If you use big channel lists or Kodi, look at the Box 4K Pro V2 with 4 GB.

HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Atmos, and according to Homatics Dolby Vision too, although not every shop lists it.

  • Speed7.5/10

The 6 nm chip is faster than that of the R 4K Plus, but 2 GB of RAM holds it back with big TV guides.

An RRP of €119.90 for a Netflix-certified box with a gigabit port and optical output.

  • Ease of use8.5/10

  • Faster 6 nm chip than the Box R 4K Plus
  • HDR10+, Dolby Atmos and an optical audio output
  • Remote with voice control and a live TV button

Cons

  • Only 2 GB of RAM; the R 4K Plus and the Box 4K Pro V2 have 4 GB
  • One USB-A 2.0 port; the R 4K Plus had USB 3.0
  • No tuner expansion, unlike the R 4K Plus
  • Dolby Vision, DTS and AI upscaling aren't in every specification list

The box came out in 2026 and Homatics' official European web shop asks €119.90 for it. For that you get Google TV 14 with Google and Netflix certification, 32 GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6, an optical audio output and a remote with a live TV button.

In this review you'll read what is different from the Box R 4K Plus and the Box 4K Pro V2, how things stand with Dolby Vision, how to install IPTV and where to buy it.

Homatics Box R 4K Plus, Box 4K V2 or Box 4K Pro V2?

The 2022 Homatics Box R 4K Plus was a popular IPTV box for years. It has an Amlogic S905X4, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, USB 3.0 and support for a tuner, and got updates from Android TV 11 to 12 and 14. Stiftung Warentest gave it a ‘sehr gut (1.5)’ in May 2025. Since March 2023 there has also been a Dune HD version, the Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus, with Dune HD's media player on it.

At some European retailers the R 4K Plus is sold out, and one retailer, Astrasat, says it has been replaced by the Box 4K V2. Stiftung Warentest lists it as no longer on the market. Homatics does still sell it internationally, and Homatics' European web shop expects new stock.

The two V2 models have the same new chip, the S905X5M-J with roughly 30,000 DMIPS against roughly 24,000 for the R 4K Plus, plus Google TV, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The Box 4K V2 has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (€119.90 at Homatics), the Box 4K Pro V2 4 GB and 64 GB (€179.90). If you want as much RAM as on the R 4K Plus, the Pro is the real successor.

Network and IPTV use

With gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 on 2.4 and 5 GHz, the connection is in good shape. A network cable gives the most stable connection for 4K channels, especially if the router is in another room.

The box has no IPTV app or tuner of its own. Features such as a grid-view TV guide, catch-up and recording depend on the app you choose and on your subscription. The remote does have a live TV button. The 2 GB of RAM is the weak point: with a big TV guide and lots of apps in the background it gets tighter than on a box with 4 GB. How fast it changes channels hasn't been independently measured yet.

Picture and sound: what about Dolby Vision?

The box plays 4K at 60 frames per second over HDMI 2.1b, with HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. Dolby Vision is on Homatics' website and in the 2026 comparison table, but not on Astrasat's product page. On the Kodinerds forum, users noted that Dolby Vision was missing from early specifications but is on the packaging. If Dolby Vision matters to you, check it with the shop before you order.

For sound, Homatics lists Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital. There is an optical output for an older amplifier. DTS is only in Homatics' comparison table, not on the product page. Thanks to the certification and Widevine L1, Netflix, Disney+ and Max play in 4K, according to Astrasat. The AI upscaling (AI-SR) that Homatics promotes hasn't been independently tested yet.

Speed, updates and everyday use

The Amlogic S905X5M-J has four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.5 GHz and a Mali-G310 graphics chip, and is clearly faster on paper than the chip in the R 4K Plus. There is 32 GB of storage with no microSD slot. There are fewer ports than on the R 4K Plus: one USB-A 2.0 port and a USB-C port, instead of USB 3.0.

Homatics supplies the box with Google TV 14 ‘with automatic updates’, but doesn't promise a set number of years. The R 4K Plus did get two major Android updates, with Android TV 14 from December 2024. The box is compact (99 × 99 × 16 mm) and the remote works via Bluetooth and infrared, with voice control and shortcuts for YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Homatics Box 4K V2

Is the Homatics Box 4K Pro V2 worth it?

Yes, if you use many channels, a large TV guide or Kodi. The Box 4K Pro V2 has the same S905X5M-J chip, Google TV 14, gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Netflix certification and optical output as the Box 4K V2, but 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage instead of 2 GB and 32 GB. Homatics charges €179.90 for it, €60 more than for the Box 4K V2.

Is the Homatics Box 4K V2 good for IPTV?

Yes. It runs Google TV 14 with the Play Store, so you install TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro or OTT Navigator and log in with an M3U link or Xtream Codes details. Gigabit Ethernet gives a stable connection; only the 2 GB of RAM is tight with very big channel lists.

Is the Homatics Box R 4K Plus still on sale?

It is getting hard to find. Some European retailers list it as sold out and Astrasat says it has been replaced by the Box 4K V2. Homatics does still sell it internationally, and Homatics' European web shop expects new stock.

Both V2 models have the newer S905X5M-J chip, Google TV, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The Box 4K V2 has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (€119.90), the Box 4K Pro V2 4 GB and 64 GB (€179.90). The older R 4K Plus has an S905X4, 4 GB and 32 GB, Android TV, USB 3.0 and support for a tuner.

Does Netflix play in 4K on the Homatics Box 4K V2?

Yes. Homatics says the box is certified by Google and Netflix, with Widevine L1, and Astrasat lists Netflix, Disney+ and Max in 4K. That is the big advantage over IPTV boxes such as Formuler and MAG.

Does the Homatics Box 4K V2 support Dolby Vision?
