Nokia Streaming Box 8010 Review 2026: discontinued, but still fine for IPTV

The Nokia Streaming Box 8010 is no longer on sale new: retailers list it as ‘no longer available’ and manufacturer StreamView no longer uses the Nokia name. If you already have one, it is still a fine box for IPTV.

Our verdict

Nokia 8010: good

The Nokia Streaming Box 8010 is still a strong IPTV box: 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, gigabit Ethernet and one of the best remotes in its class. You can hardly buy it new any more, and since StreamView gave up the Nokia licence, further updates are uncertain. If you already have one, it is fine for IPTV; if you're looking for a new box, choose the Homatics Box 4K V2.

Score by category

How the Nokia 8010 scores on the five points we rate every box on. How we rate.

  • IPTV suitability8.0/10

Gigabit Ethernet, 4 GB of RAM and the Play Store make it strong for IPTV, although it doesn't adjust the frame rate automatically.

  • Picture and sound7.5/10

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, but HDR10+ is unclear and picture settings are missing according to AndroidPCTV.

  • Speed7.0/10

The 2022 S905X4-K is no longer the fastest, but 4 GB of RAM keeps big TV guides smooth.

  • Value for money6.0/10

Hardly any left new, and prices from the last sellers vary widely.

  • Ease of use8.0/10

Excellent remote with backlit buttons and number keys, but the future of updates is uncertain.

Pros

  • 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, more than many new budget boxes
  • Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6
  • Plenty of ports: USB 3.0, USB 2.0, optical output and AV output
  • Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Netflix in 4K
  • Excellent remote with backlighting, number keys and TV control

Cons

  • No longer on sale new; StreamView no longer uses the Nokia licence
  • Uncertain future for updates; the Android TV 14 update didn't arrive everywhere at once
  • No automatic frame rate and no picture settings
  • Older 2022 chip and unclear support for HDR10+

StreamView released the 8010 in 2022 under licence from Nokia, with an RRP of €129 (according to Netzwelt). It stood out for 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, gigabit Ethernet and plenty of ports. Test-Aankoop gave it 73 out of 100 points, praising the remote and the connections. A few marketplace sellers still offer it; if so, check the stock and the seller carefully.

In this review you'll read what the 8010 can still do, how updates stand, how to set up IPTV on it and which box to buy as a replacement now.

Why is the Nokia 8010 no longer on sale?

The 8010 didn't come from Nokia itself, but from StreamView GmbH, which used the name under licence. According to Deskmodder, StreamView has given up that licence and now sells its boxes under the Thomson name. Retailers list the 8010 as ‘no longer available’. That also goes for the older Nokia Streaming Box 8000, which some sites still recommend.

A few marketplace sellers still offer the 8010, but prices vary widely and stock isn't always certain. Check the seller and the delivery time before you order.

If you're looking for a new box with the same strengths, the Homatics Box 4K V2 comes closest: also gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, an optical output and certification by Google and Netflix, but with 2 GB of RAM. Homatics' Box 4K Pro V2 does have 4 GB.

Does the Nokia 8010 still get updates?

The box came out with Android TV 11 and later got Android TV 12. According to owners on Reddit and in comments on Deskmodder, an update to Android TV 14 also arrived in 2025, although not every box got it at the same time. StreamView hasn't officially announced that update.

Now that the Nokia licence has ended, further updates are uncertain; Deskmodder criticises the irregular updates. You can still go to StreamView for support, as stated on Nokia's page for licensed products. As long as your IPTV app keeps supporting the Android version on your box, you can simply carry on using it.

What still makes the 8010 strong for IPTV

With 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, the 8010 has more memory than many new budget boxes, such as the Xiaomi TV Box S and the Homatics Box 4K V2 with 2 GB. Big channel lists and TV guides load smoothly as a result. Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 (2×2) give a stable connection, and you connect fast storage via USB 3.0.

The remote is one of the best in its class: backlit buttons, number keys to pick a channel directly, a microphone for Google Assistant and infrared to control your TV's power button and volume. Test-Aankoop named the remote and the connections as the strongest points.

There are weak spots too. AndroidPCTV noticed that the box doesn't adjust the frame rate automatically and has no picture settings, which you may notice with sport and films. The 2022 chip is older, and Kodi systems such as LibreELEC and CoreELEC don't run on it.

Picture, sound and connections

The 8010 plays 4K at 60 frames per second, with Dolby Vision and HDR10. On HDR10+ the sources disagree: AndroidPCTV and androidtv-guide list it, Netzwelt says it is missing. Thanks to Widevine L1 and Chromecast, Netflix and other streaming services work in 4K, and according to AndroidPCTV Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos work well in them.

For sound there are Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus and TrueHD; DTS:X only plays back as the core track. Besides HDMI there is an optical output (up to 5.1, but not for streaming apps) and a 3.5 mm AV output for older TVs and amplifiers. You charge your phone via the USB-C port. StreamView's manuals page also lists separate Nokia adapters for DVB-T/T2 and DVB-S/S2.

Watching IPTV

IPTV on the Nokia 8010

The 8010 runs Android TV with the Google Play Store. StreamView writes in its own manual that you can also use the box as an IPTV box: you simply download your favourite IPTV app. TiviMate and Kodi are in the Play Store; you add IPTV Smarters Pro and OTT Navigator as APKs.

  • TiviMate
  • IPTV Smarters Pro
  • IBO Player
  • OTT Navigator
  • MyTVOnline 3
  • Kodi

How to set up IPTV on the Nokia 8010 (TiviMate)

  1. In the settings under Device Preferences, check whether a system update is waiting and install it first.
  2. Connect the box to your router with a network cable. The gigabit port gives a more stable connection than Wi-Fi, especially with 4K streams.
  3. Open the Google Play Store, search for TiviMate and install the app.
  4. Want an app that isn't in the Play Store, such as IPTV Smarters Pro? Install Downloader (by AFTVnews) from the Play Store.
  5. In the security settings, allow Downloader to install unknown apps and download the app via the maker's official website.
  6. Open TiviMate, choose ‘Add playlist’ and log in with the Xtream Codes details or the M3U link from your subscription. The TV guide then loads by itself.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Nokia 8010

Is the Nokia Streaming Box 8010 still on sale?

Hardly. Retailers list it as ‘no longer available’, and according to Deskmodder StreamView no longer uses the Nokia licence and now sells under the Thomson name. A few marketplace sellers still offer it; if so, check the stock and the seller.

Does the Nokia Streaming Box 8010 still get updates?

The box came out with Android TV 11 and later got Android TV 12. According to owners, an update to Android TV 14 arrived in 2025, although not every box got it at the same time. Now that the Nokia licence has ended, further updates are uncertain; StreamView remains the contact for support.

Can I use the Nokia 8010 as an IPTV box?

Yes. StreamView writes in the official manual that you can use the box as an IPTV box by downloading your favourite IPTV app. With gigabit Ethernet, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage it is well suited to it, although it doesn't adjust the frame rate automatically.

What is the successor to the Nokia Streaming Box 8010?

There won't be a successor under the Nokia name: StreamView now sells its boxes as Thomson. If you're looking for a new box with gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 and an optical output, the Homatics Box 4K V2 is a good alternative; if you also want 4 GB of RAM, choose the Homatics Box 4K Pro V2.

Does the Nokia 8010 support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos?

Yes. The official manual lists Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and AndroidPCTV saw both working in 4K streaming apps. Whether the box also supports HDR10+ is unclear: the reviews contradict each other.
