Hot Player: good
Hot Player is a basic M3U player, but it is listed for TVs that most IPTV apps skip: Philips sets with Titan OS and Hisense sets with VIDAA. You get live TV, films and series from your playlist with search and subtitles. If your TV runs Titan OS, it is one of the first apps to try.

What Hot Player looks like

You add your playlist through the app or on hotplayer.app, using the MAC address the app shows on your TV. You can keep up to three playlists and switch between them. The developer offers a 30-day free trial; after that you pay for a licence per device. The amounts on the official site change, so check there for the current price before you activate.
Hot Player on a Philips TV with Titan OS
Newer Philips TVs are moving from Google TV to Titan OS. That system runs web apps, so Android apps such as TiviMate won't install on it. Hot Player is one of the few IPTV players whose developer lists Titan OS.
If you can't find it in your TV's app list, availability varies by country and model. A streaming stick in an HDMI port is then the quickest way round it.
What Hot Player doesn't do
Hot Player keeps things basic. The developer mentions M3U playlists, subtitles, favourites and search, but no TV guide, catch-up, recording or Xtream Codes login. If you need those on a Samsung or LG TV, IBO Player or SmartOne IPTV are the better fit.
Licences are per device, so with two TVs check whether you need two activations.

How to install Hot Player on a Samsung TV
- Open Samsung Apps on your device and search for "Hot Player".
- Install the app and open it.
- Write down the MAC address the app shows on screen (and the device key, if there is one).
- On your phone or computer, go to hotplayer.app and add your playlist there using that MAC address.
- Restart Hot Player on your TV: your channels now load.
