SmartOne IPTV: good
SmartOne IPTV is the app you meet most often on TVs where little else runs: Hisense and other VIDAA sets, and also Samsung, LG and Philips with Google TV. You log in with Xtream Codes or an M3U link and get live TV, films, series, a TV guide and catch-up. There is no recording or multiview, so for those choose an Android app.

According to the official site, the app runs on Samsung (Tizen and the older Orsay), LG (webOS and Netcast), VIDAA TVs such as Hisense and Toshiba, TVs on the Foxxum platform (including some Panasonic, TCL and Sharp models), Vestel TVs, Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV. For many TVs that makes it the app that actually exists. Like any player, SmartOne has no channels of its own: you link your own subscription.
Why SmartOne is on so many TVs
Most IPTV apps go for Android, Samsung and LG. SmartOne goes further: the developer also lists VIDAA (Hisense, Toshiba, Brandt), the Foxxum platform (including some Panasonic, TCL and Sharp models) and Vestel TVs (such as Hitachi, Toshiba and Telefunken). On those systems there is little choice of IPTV players, so SmartOne is often the best option.
Whether the app is in the store on your TV depends on the model and the country. Search your TV's store first. If you can't find it, a streaming stick in an HDMI port is the way round it.
SmartOne on a Philips TV
Philips TVs with Google TV or Android TV use Google Play, where SmartOne IPTV is listed. It works as on any Android TV: you log in with Xtream Codes or an M3U link and then pick your channels.
Newer Philips models are moving to Titan OS. That system uses web apps instead of Android apps, so the Google Play version won't work there. In that case check your TV's app list or use a stick.
